Frequently asked questions

What is a PIR board and how does it differ from EPS?+

A PIR board is a rigid insulation panel with a closed-cell polyisocyanurate foam core and facings on both sides. It has the lowest thermal conductivity among widely available insulation materialsD from 0.022 W/(m·K)), so for the same performance it is noticeably thinner than EPS or mineral wool. termPIR® is a line of PIR boards manufactured in Poland by Gór-Stal.

What PIR board thickness should I choose for WT 2021?+

Poland's WT 2021 requires U ≤ 0.15 W/(m²·K) for roofs and U ≤ 0.20 for external walls. For termPIR® AL (λD 0.022) about 15 cm for a roof and ~11 cm for a wall is enough — far less than EPS. Available thicknesses: 20 to 250 mm. A BOKKA advisor will calculate the U-value for your assembly.

What is the lambda (λD) of termPIR boards?+

Most termPIR® variants have λD = 0.022 W/(m·K). The MAX series reaches 0.019 W/(m·K) (the lowest lambda on the market), while glass-veil variants (ETX, WS) are 0.025–0.027 W/(m·K).

Are PIR boards suitable for attic and roof insulation?+

Yes — it is one of the most common uses for PIR boards. On a pitched roof they are installed over the rafters (a continuous layer with no thermal bridges) and between rafters. Variants with Al foil (AL, MAX 19 AL) are used for pitched roofs. The thin PIR layer helps preserve headroom in the attic.

Do PIR boards qualify for the thermal-modernisation tax relief?+

Yes. Insulation materials, including PIR boards, qualify for the Polish thermal-modernisation PIT relief of up to PLN 53,000 for the owner or co-owner of an existing single-family house. We issue a VAT invoice with the appropriate description.

How do I order PIR boards and what is the delivery time?+

Send an enquiry via the form or e-mail — we prepare a quote within 24 h. Nationwide delivery, directly to the site (unloading on the recipient's side); transport — pallet or truck — is matched to the order size. Popular variants (AL, ETX 100/120/150 mm) are often available from stock; others are made to order.
