Mobile eco-laundry in sandwich panel technology

This project, delivered in Poland, comprised the construction of a mobile technical container serving as a modular eco-laundry unit. The structure — measuring 2.5 × 6.0 × 3.2 m — was engineered as a lightweight, self-supporting transportable enclosure that can be quickly installed on site and relocated whenever operational needs change. The façade was finished in RAL 9006 (white aluminium), giving the cabin a modern, technical appearance suitable for both urban service points and industrial back-of-house locations.

Design challenge

A container dedicated to laundry operations had to combine several critical properties: low dead load to enable road transport on a standard low-bed trailer, an airtight thermal envelope to limit heat losses generated by washing and drying equipment, and cladding resistant to high humidity, condensation and weathering. The sandwich construction also required precise selection of PIR core thickness for the roof and walls in order to maintain module stiffness while keeping external dimensions compact.

Solution applied

The envelope was built using polyurethane-core sandwich panels from the insPIRe® range. The roof was clad with 100 mm panels, while the side walls were executed in 80 mm panels, mechanically fixed to the steel sub-frame using concealed fasteners. The PIR core delivers a very low λD coefficient, achieving a U-value below 0.25 W/m²K with a relatively slim profile — essential for a unit operated year-round. The panels also offer a B-s2,d0 fire classification.

Outcome

The result is a tight, energy-efficient and fully mobile eco-laundry enclosure. The lightweight layered construction reduced on-site assembly to a minimum, while the uniform RAL 9006 finish ensures a consistent visual identity.
