Suspended Ceiling in a Poultry Farm — termPIR® AGRO P 80 mm
The project involved the installation of a suspended ceiling in a livestock facility — a poultry farm located in Poland. In animal husbandry buildings, stable thermal insulation of the ceiling is of critical importance, as the upper envelope is responsible for the greatest heat loss. At the same time, the ceiling surface must be resistant to moisture, ammonia and routine high-pressure cleaning typical of intensive poultry production.
Design Challenge
The investor required a solution that would combine high thermal performance with resistance to the aggressive chemical environment present in a poultry house. It was also essential to ensure a tight, easy-to-clean surface and rapid installation in order to minimise production downtime between rearing cycles. An additional requirement was a lightweight structure that would not overload the existing roof truss.
Applied Solution
The suspended ceiling was constructed from termPIR® AGRO P insulation boards, 80 mm thick, with FIT flat milled edges. The PIR boards, fitted with double-sided facings dedicated to agricultural applications, were joined using C-type (connecting) and H-type (wall-edge) PVC profiles, achieving an aesthetic, airtight and hygienic surface. The boards offer a thermal conductivity (λ) of approximately 0.022 W/m·K, delivering an excellent U-value at minimal thickness, and meet Euroclass E fire reaction requirements. The PVC profile system guarantees full moisture resistance and long-term durability without corrosion.
Final Result
The use of termPIR® AGRO P polyurethane insulation delivered a high thermal standard for the ceiling at a minimal insulation thickness — a significant advantage in livestock buildings with restricted clear height. The ceiling is ready for intensive use, easy to disinfect and resistant to conditions typical of poultry production.
