Junction function
GS MW U concealed lock = premium alternative to the visible lock (S/CH). Key difference: the fastener disappears behind the facade, hidden inside the lock geometry.
Vs. GS MW S/CH:
| Feature | GS MW S/CH (visible) | GS MW U (concealed) |
|---|---|---|
| Fastener visible | yes, in the middle of the panel | no (inside the lock) |
| Modular width | 1000 or 1140 mm | 1000 mm (fixed) |
| Fasteners per width | min. 3 | min. 2 |
| Aesthetics | industrial | premium (smooth facade) |
| Price per m² | base | +12-18% |
| Typical use | warehouses, production halls | car showrooms, office buildings, eco-buildings |
Available thicknesses: 80, 100, 120 mm — a narrow range vs CH (up to 250 mm), because U is dedicated to typical exterior walls, not cold stores.
Critical installation aspects
- U lock geometry — deeper groove than in S, to accommodate the PM1 washer + fastener head; lock width ~70 mm (vs ~30 mm in S).
- Fastener fixed EXCLUSIVELY in the lock — through the PM1 washer; without the washer, the fastener head will imprint on the sheet of the adjacent panel during thermal movement.
- Fixed 1000 mm modular width — no 1140 mm option; the 1 m module must be accounted for in the design.
- The “groove” side always installed facing the prevailing wind direction — water running down the facade does not penetrate the geometric gap.
