Junction function

Cold room door installed in GS insPIRe® CH wall for chambers at temperatures > 0°C (typically +2°C to +8°C — storage of fresh food, pharmaceuticals, fruit).

Critical detail element: the PVC rod-nut fixing system (items 03-05) eliminates the thermal bridge typical of direct steel frame fixing to the panel:

• Ø10 steel rod (item 05) passes through the panel with PVC insulation (item 03) on both sides.
• The steel nut (item 06) does not contact the panel — the load is transferred by the PVC nut (item 03).
• No metal penetrates the full insulation thickness → no water vapour condensation on the nut on the warm side.

Critical installation aspects

• Ø10 threaded rod (item 05) — galvanised, length = panel thickness + 40 mm (margin for PVC + steel nuts).
• PVC insulating nut (item 03) — internal steel insert carries the load, external PVC provides thermal insulation.
• PVC washer (item 04) between panel and steel nut — eliminates point crushing of the panel.
• Threshold (bottom junction) — door rests on the concrete floor (item 08); bottom frame fixed to the floor with chemical anchors.
• Plastic sealing compound (item 09) along the perimeter of the frame on both sides — fills minor irregularities, eliminates air leakage.
• Closing flashing (item 07) covers the frame-panel joint, fixed with fasteners and washers (item 10) every 200 mm.
