When to use this system
insPIRe® CH is a dedicated cold storage panel used in facilities where negative or low positive temperatures must be maintained with a tight vapour barrier:
- Freezers (from –30°C) — frozen food warehouses, wholesale facilities, meat plants
- Chillers (from 0°C to +12°C) — distribution warehouses, dairies, fruit and vegetable storage
- Blast freezing chambers (–35°C) — meat and fish processing
- Climatic tunnels and ripening chambers
The system meets HACCP requirements (double-sided smooth coated steel facings, pressure washable) and holds a PZH Hygiene Certificate for direct food contact.
Key parameters for cold storage
Key features distinguishing cold storage panels from standard wall panels:
- Vapour tightness — double-sided steel sheets with PE coating eliminate water vapour penetration into the core. This is critical for freezers — condensation in the core reduces λ and can cause panel cracking during freezing cycles.
- Double PUS gasket lock — factory-applied polyurethane gasket eliminates thermal bridges at panel joints.
- Concealed fastening — fasteners invisible from the chamber side, eliminates point thermal bridges and provides a smooth washable surface.
- Dimensional tolerance — panel thickness ±2 mm per 1 m of length, allowing precise installation without tolerance gaps.
Installation and finishing requirements
- Floor of the cold room insulated independently (typically termPIR AGRO P-REV under the screed + PE vapour barrier film) — contact between the panel and the floor exclusively through the OB-01 corner profile + PES gasket.
- Cold storage ceiling — panels laid on a load-bearing structure, suspension hangers every 1200–1500 mm.
- Cold storage doors — compatible with most market doors (Caldewey, Fermod, Frantsen, Penz Norma). Thermal frame eliminates bridges at the frame.
- Combination with GS MW QA-CH — compatible locks allow mixing PIR and mineral wool panels in a single facility (e.g. fire separation walls from MW, the rest from PIR).
insPIRe® CH variants
- insPIRe® CH — standard, core λ 0.022 W/(m·K), declared system λ depends on thickness (U: 0.22 / 0.18 / 0.14 / 0.11 for 100/120/160/200 mm).
- insPIRe® CH MAX — PIR-MAX core, λ reduced to 0.019 W/(m·K). Achieves U = 0.11 W/m²·K at 200 mm (vs 250 mm required for standard CH).
Required flashings
The cold storage system uses our flashing catalogue for connections and finishes:
- OB-01 / OB-02 — external / internal corner
- OB-17 — panel joint cover
- OB-36 — panel closure
Installation accessories
- Sandwich panel fasteners (concealed lock, selected according to panel thickness)
- PES gasket — polyurethane tape for sealing perimeter connections
Technical documentation
The system is described in the Gór-Stal Technical Catalogue (2025-04-23, p. 6) and the dedicated Cold Storage Catalogue 2025. It holds a PZH Hygiene Certificate allowing use in facilities with direct food contact. Reaction to fire class B-s1,d0 per PN-EN 13501-1 (complete system with metal facings).
