Junction function
Wall + ceiling corner freezer = analogous to a cold store (p. 16), but with more stringent sealing requirements. The freezer must be fully vapour-tight, because:
- Water vapour from the warm corridor (+20°C, 70% RH) tries to penetrate into the cold freezer (−25°C).
- Without a perfect vapour barrier = ice forms within the insulation layer → blow-out of the PIR core upon temperature changes.
Critical installation aspects
- Vapour barrier (item 05) continuous along the corner, min. 200 mm overlap.
- Removal of the wall facing in the 0.5×D zone.
- 3-layer sealing.
