Freezer base at external wall — Variant II

Alternative freezer base detail (<0°C) — PVC skirting instead of concrete plinth. Under-floor termPIR® insulation + PE vapour barrier. Easier renovation than Variant I.

Freezer base at external wall — Variant II

Junction function

Variant II of the freezer base — an alternative solution to the classic concrete plinth with PVC profile. Structural change: a PVC skirting board (item 10) replaces the concrete plinth.

Selected for:

  • Renovations of existing freezer chambers — where we don’t want to interfere with the concrete floor (replacement of the concrete plinth can be omitted).
  • Freezer chambers with frequent pressure washing — PVC skirting is easier to clean than a concrete edge (fewer crevices, no corrosion).
  • Temporary chambers — a modular solution that is faster to install (~30% faster than Variant I).

Critical installation aspects

  • PVC skirting board (item 10) — fixed with sealed blind rivets (item 12) to the cold storage panel + permanently plastic sealant (item 11) at the joint with the floor. Without this — air leakage + condensation.
  • PE vapour barrier (item 07) interrupted at the plinth — unlike the floor where it is continuous. Connection to the vertical wall film via a 30 cm overlap.
  • Perimeter termPIR® AL (item 02) under the floor in a 50 cm strip from the chamber wall — interrupts the thermal bridge at the wall/floor interface.
  • External plinth flashing (item 06) — 5% slope, drains water away from the chamber perimeter. OB-13 (plinth drip edge) or OB-14 (small plinth drip edge) depending on plinth height.
  • PU foam (item 08) fills the internal corner between the wall panel and the floor — 3D thermal continuity.
  • Stainless steel fastener with washer (item 13) — stainless steel is mandatory in an ammonia environment (compressor) and damp conditions (pressure washing).
