External cold store wall corner — Variant I

Junction function

Cold store corner variant I = a specific detail for refrigerated rooms. Removing the facing of one of the panels in the corner zone provides:

  • Improved airtightness — PUR foam fills the PIR core of the adjacent panel without an air gap.
  • Reduced thermal bridge — standard S corners with facings on both sides create a thermal “channel” through the steel facing.

Construction:

  1. Removed facing of one panel (typically the one on the cold store side).
  2. PVC corner profile (item 03) provides thermal insulation on the cold side.
  3. Masking flashing (item 02) finishes the corridor side aesthetically.
  4. PUR foam + plastic sealant ensure tightness.

Critical installation aspects

  • Facing removal — use a diamond saw + router; take care not to damage the PIR core.
  • PVC profile (PVC lambda ≈ 0.17 W/m·K) — cools down slowly, eliminates condensation in the corner.
  • Stainless fasteners (item 07) with EPDM gasket — critical for cold stores.
  • Plastic sealant on both sides of the corner.
