Junction function
GS MW CH lock = geometry analogous to the S 80 mm lock, but for thicker panels used in cold stores, freezer rooms, and warehouses with high thermal requirements:
- 100 mm — cold store +2°C, U ≈ 0.38 W/m²K
- 120 mm — cold store 0°C, U ≈ 0.32
- 160 mm — freezer −18°C, U ≈ 0.24
- 200 mm — freezer −25°C, U ≈ 0.20
- 250 mm — shock-freezer −40°C, U ≈ 0.16
Identical lock geometry for all thicknesses — a deliberate design decision by the manufacturer: the same lock allows mixing thicknesses within a single facade (e.g. 200 mm external wall + 100 mm partition wall) without special flashings.
Critical installation aspects
- Min. 1 mm gap between panels — required for thermal movement; in cold stores/freezers with a 60°C temperature gradient, thermal movement is even greater than in a typical facade (production cycle vs night).
- PES sealing tape in the lock — particularly important in cold stores, where water vapour pressure from the warmer side (+20°C inside the hall) acts against the cold side (−25°C inside the freezer).
- Vapour barrier on the warmer side — aluminium facing on the technical corridor side in a freezer / warm corridor side in a cold store; without it, condensation occurs in the mineral wool layer.
- Visible fastener — in cold stores covered with an EPDM cap matching the panel colour; in freezers (where aesthetics are less critical) an aluminium cap is used.
