Lock + joint of insPIRe® CH panels (cold storage)

Cross-section of GS insPIRe® CH / CH MAX cold storage panel lock. Vs S lock — the cold storage version has additional **assembly foam + permanently plastic sealant** in the joint for absolute vapour tightness (50-60°C temperature differential between cold room and corridor).

Junction function

insPIRe® CH cold storage panel lock = specific geometry for cold rooms/freezers — difference vs standard S:

  • Additional PUR assembly foam in the lock (item 02) — maintains vapour tightness.
  • Permanently plastic sealant (item 03) — seals the joint through the full panel thickness; does not cure, so it accommodates thermal movement of ±5 mm without cracking.

CH/CH MAX thicknesses: 80, 100, 120, 150, 160, 200 mm.

Critical for cold rooms: without double sealing, water vapour from the warm side (corridor at +20°C) will penetrate to the cold side (−25°C) → condensation within the insulation layer = PIR degradation within 2-3 years.

Critical installation aspects

  • Min. 1 mm gap — despite the tight lock, thermal movement at a 50-60°C gradient requires a gap to allow free working of the steel.
  • PUR foam introduced during installation — compression within the lock ensures long-lasting tightness.
  • Permanently plastic sealant = polyurethane MS Polymer Bostik / Sika Sikaflex-291; applied along the entire length of the lock.
  • Post-installation tightness test with smoke or pressure test = standard in HACCP facilities.
