Junction function
Roof start at the parapet is a 3D corner in the building — three planes meet here:
- horizontal — the roof plane (insPIRe® D);
- vertical — the external wall (insPIRe® S);
- vertical — the parapet (wall raised above the roof).
Standard sheet metal flashings close 2D geometry (lines), but a 3D corner requires custom flashing designed for the specific junction (angles + dimensions from the construction drawing).
Critical installation aspects
- Custom flashing (item 04) — fabricated to order. The project supplies the dimensions; the sheet metal workshop fabricates it from steel sheet with paint coating matching the façade.
- Thermal insulation infill (item 08) — the interior of the 3D corner is filled with mineral wool or low-expansion PIR foam — eliminating the air void and thermal bridge. Without it — heat loss from the building through the corner.
- OB-05 internal corner closes the 90° angle between wall and parapet; OB-02 closes the junction with the roof.
- PES sealing tape in two planes — between the roof panel and the OB-02 flashing, and between the wall panel and OB-05.
- Conditioning of the infill — before being closed off by the custom flashing, the wool/PIR must be dry (condensation in this corner would be very difficult to dry out).
Featured in the system insPIRe® D multi-span pitched roof.
