Partition wall at floor

Junction function

Bottom fixing of the partition wall = critical area for acoustics + safety. Components:

1. UW profile (item 01) — horizontal, along the entire length of the wall; anchored with expansion plugs (item 07) at 60 cm spacing.
2. Acoustic sealing tape (item 06) — between UW and floor; eliminates sound transmission through metal-to-concrete contact.
3. Perimeter expansion gap (item 09) — 5–10 mm gap between plasterboard and floor finish; allows for thermal movement.
4. Vertical CW profiles (item 02) inserted into UW every 60 cm (or 40 cm in the edge zone).

Critical installation aspects

• Acoustic sealing tape (item 06) — key element of acoustic insulation; without it typical Rw drop of 10–15 dB due to sound conduction through the structure. Manufacturers: Rockwool Rockfix, Isover Vario, Knauf Kafkalik.
• Expansion plugs (item 07) — every 60 cm in the central zone, every 40 cm within 1 m of the load-bearing wall; typical layout: 1st plug 5 cm from the load-bearing wall, then every 60 cm.
• Perimeter expansion gap (item 09) — 5–10 mm gap between plasterboard and floor finish; concealed as standard with an acrylic or wooden skirting board; without it linear cracks occur as the floor moves (panels, parquet).
• Screws (item 05) — connecting plasterboard to CW profile; spacing 15 cm in the edge zone, 25 cm in the field. Sink the head 1–2 mm below the surface and fill.
• Floor finish (item 10) — laid first (e.g. parquet) under the wall with an expansion gap, then the skirting board finish covers the gap.
• Wet rooms (bathroom) — beneath the UW profile additionally apply waterproofing in a 30 cm wide strip; important for bathrooms under sloped roofs / under ceilings.
