Roller door lintel — GS MW (non-combustible A2)

Industrial roller door lintel set in a wall built from GS MW S or CH mineral wool panels. Reinforced steel structure above the opening required, class A2-s1,d0.

Roller door lintel — GS MW (non-combustible A2)

Junction function

Industrial roller door lintel in an A2-s1,d0 wall made of GS MW panels. This is the heaviest opening detail in the hall — door size can range from 4×4 m to 6×6 m, and structural loads on the lintel beam reach several tons.

Three critical requirements:

  1. Lintel load-bearing structure (item 03) — rolled profile (HEB / IPE) designed by the structural engineer to carry the door weight plus the GS MW panel weight (density 105 kg/m³, 2.5× heavier than PIR).
  2. Non-combustibility — the system remains A2-s1,d0 within the lintel area; sheet metal flashings must not introduce combustible materials.
  3. Roller cassette (item 11) — most often inside the wall structure, requires a separate service opening from the interior side.

Critical installation aspects

  • OB-20 lintel flashing (item 04) — horizontal masking flashing across the full width of the door opening. Transverse joints (between metre lengths) must always be sealed (items 07, 13) — water from the façade can leak between the flashing and the panel.
  • OB-21 side flashing (item 05) — vertical side flashing of the door. Required on each side of the opening. Geometry depends on panel thickness.
  • OB-01 corner (item 06) — closes the 90° angle between OB-20 and OB-21 at the 4 corners of the door opening.
  • EPDM door gasket (item 08) — between the door frame and OB-20/OB-21. Frost-resistant (down to -40°C), UV-resistant and resistant to greases from the roller mechanism. Standard type BG3.
  • PM1 washer (item 10) — eliminates the thermal bridge in the edge zone of the opening where fastener density is doubled.
  • Roller cassette (item 11) — usually mounted in the structure above the lintel (not in the MW panel). Requires a dedicated service opening from the hall interior, typically fitted with a metal access door.

Overhead / sectional door vs roller door

Door typeLintel structureRequired service zone height
Roller (this detail)beam + roller cassette~300 mm above the opening
Sectionalbeam + guide rails~600-800 mm above the opening
Overhead single-leafbeam onlynone (door frame + jamb)

Used in systems: GS MW CH wall, GS MW U concealed wall.
