Junction function
Window — horizontal section = top view, showing the side (left/right) edges of the window. Complements the vertical section (p. 25).
Side window reveals are structurally simpler than top/bottom:
- No drip flashing / sill — sides do not drain rainwater.
- Custom flashings (item 04) usually flat, masking the joint between the panel and the window frame.
- Internal corner piece (item 05) at the reveal corner (4 corners per window, where the sides meet the sill/drip flashing).
- Window frame fixing = blind rivets 4.8×15.1 (item 08) to the sub-framing.
Critical installation aspects
- Custom side flashings (item 04) ordered together with the full set of flashings for the entire building; width specification = panel thickness + 5 mm allowance.
- Custom corner pieces (item 05) — 4 per window, connecting the side flashings with the sill/drip flashing; usually require individual mitre cutting (especially for windows with non-standard proportions).
- Side fixing of the window frame — rivets every 60 cm along the side; no need for additional fixings at the corners (no structural tension as in the bottom and top edges).
- Side sealing — neutral silicone inside and outside + low-expansion installation foam in the 5–15 mm gap between the frame and the sub-framing.
- Installation tolerance ±5 mm — larger than in the vertical section, as the sides are not subjected to rainwater loads.
Used together with the vertical section (p. 25) — completing the full window documentation for the hall.
