When to use this system
Suspended ceiling in a livestock building — when the roof is not made of sandwich panels (e.g. timber truss structure, hall with trapezoidal steel roof sheet without insulation) — and we need to insulate inside and separate the air volume above the animals.
Choose this system when:
- Renovation of an existing building — existing trapezoidal sheet roof without insulation, we add a suspended ceiling 1.5-2 m below the ridge.
- Air volume separation — lower zone (animals) warm and insulated, upper zone (attic) cold, ventilated.
- Small heated volume — it is easier to heat 2.5 m of height under the ceiling than 4-5 m up to the ridge.
- B-s2,d0 ceiling requirement — termPIR® AGRO AL CEIL has an additional fire classification in the final ceiling application (vs standard AGRO AL in class D).

Installation requirements
- Support structure — galvanised CD/UD profiles fixed to the roof structure (rafters / trusses / purlins). Spacing of main profiles 800-1000 mm.
- Board fixing — combination of bonding + mechanical fasteners:
- PU adhesive applied perimetrically + spot-bonded on the profiles,
- self-drilling fasteners through the board into the profile every 400-600 mm, with a PVC washer eliminating the thermal bridge.
- Joint sealing — aluminium tape on all board joints. This is critical — water vapour condensation from barn air (RH > 80%) penetrates through leaks and destroys the insulation within 3-5 years.
- Service penetrations (ventilation, lighting, monitoring) — with EPDM sealing collars + neutral frost-resistant silicone. Every leak = thermal bridge + condensation.
- Ventilation chimney — the ceiling must allow air exchange (opening with controlled damper or a continuous ridge slot).
Volumetric architecture
Roof (cold, ventilated)
───────────────────────── ← original roof structure
↑ exchanged air, dry, cold
───────────────────────── ← suspended ceiling termPIR® AGRO AL CEIL
↑ heated air, humid, with NH3
animals + bedding + manure
───────────────────────── ← floor slab
The ceiling separates the animal zone (warm, humid, aggressive with NH3) from the roof space (cold, dry). The Al CEIL foil facing the animals is:
- gas-tight — NH3 does not penetrate into the insulation,
- washable — pressure washing during building sanitisation procedures,
- B-s2,d0 — meets the fire requirement for heated livestock buildings.
Order fulfilment
Standard termPIR® AGRO AL CEIL board — lead time 2-3 weeks from order (stock product or fast production).
