Case study: production and warehouse halls for a rooflight window manufacturer

The investor is a Polish rooflight window manufacturer based in Nowy Sącz, operating internationally as one of the global leaders in its segment. The expansion of its production and storage facilities in southern Poland required the construction of large-scale industrial buildings combining significant usable area with demanding technical performance. The project was supported by BOKKA’s regional sales network covering the Małopolska region and the wider southern Poland market.

Design challenge

The investment involved the construction of production and warehouse halls meeting current technical requirements for industrial buildings — including a thermal transmittance coefficient (U-value) of the external envelope compliant with WT 2021, an appropriate reaction-to-fire classification of the cladding, and a short installation schedule. Stringent thermal and fire safety requirements had to be reconciled with a tight project timeline and a substantial wall and roof area to be enclosed.

Solution applied

The wall and roof envelope of the halls was executed using insPIRe® sandwich panels with a PIR polyurethane core. The solution delivers excellent thermal insulation performance thanks to the low λD value of the PIR core, enabling the required U-value to be achieved at moderate panel thickness. The lightweight layered structure significantly shortens the installation process compared with traditional masonry technologies, while the external steel facings provide resistance to weather conditions and operational loads typical of industrial facilities. Panels were installed using a concealed-fastener system on a steel structural frame.

Outcome

The halls in Nowy Sącz received an energy-efficient envelope compliant with current WT 2021 requirements, and the use of insPIRe® sandwich panels enabled a short construction cycle while maintaining high standards of quality and durability.
