Gable wall — under-rafter roof W2 (termPIR® AL GK + ETX)

Junction function

The W2 gable wall = identical structural arrangement as W1 (p. 26) but with under-rafter AL GK (item 07) instead of separate termPIR® AL + separate plasterboard. Key principles:

1. Fire-resistant ring beam (item 08) — reinforced concrete, REI 60–120 per PN-EN 13501-2.
2. termPIR® ETX (item 09) on the outside of the wall — ETICS with ETA 17/0066, class B-s1, d0.
3. termPIR® AL between rafters (item 06) + AL GK under rafters (item 07) — continuity of roof insulation onto the wall.
4. Additional plasterboard (item 11) on the gable wall from the inside — continuation of the lining from the roof.

Critical installation aspects

• Low-expansion PIR foam (item 12) — fills 5–15 mm gaps around junctions with the ring beam; low-expansion is mandatory (high-expansion foam will disrupt the geometry and create a gap for fire).
• The ring beam (item 08) must extend min. 30 cm above the roof covering (WT § 235); the portion of the ring beam above the covering is covered with galvanised sheet flashing.
• ETX (item 09) — bonded + mechanical installation, in accordance with the technical approval document; full-surface bonding, plate anchors 8 pcs/m² in the edge zone, 6 pcs/m² in the field.
• AL GK board (item 07) cut to fit at the junction with the ring beam — seal with low-expansion PIR foam around the perimeter.
• Additional plasterboard (item 11) on the gable wall — connection to the AL GK on the roof with joint compound + tape; it must be from the same manufacturer’s range (e.g. both Knauf or both Rigips, for matching thickness and texture).
• Screws (item 13) — through the plasterboard substructure → rafters / ring beam; countersink the head 2 mm below the surface, fill as with any plasterboard installation.
