Gate lintel — horizontal sandwich panel S layout

Industrial gate lintel seating in a wall built from insPIRe® S panels in horizontal layout. Panels continue on both sides of the gate — more economical for retail buildings.

Gate lintel — horizontal sandwich panel S layout

Junction function

Gate lintel in horizontal layout — wall panels installed horizontally. The gate opening interrupts only the panels within the gate-height band (typically 4–5 m), while the remaining panels continue horizontally on both sides.

This is an economical alternative to the vertical layout:

  • Fewer cut panels (-30% material waste around openings).
  • Easier installation (panels above the lintel installed like a regular wall, with no special geometry).
  • Aesthetic for retail buildings — gates are often in the central part of the façade, and a horizontal layout fits better with a classical composition.

Critical installation aspects

  • Steel lintel beam (item 03) — designed for the gate weight + the weight of the panel band above the gate. Typically IPE 180–240 for gates 4–6 m wide.
  • Panels above the lintel are fixed to the beam + upper structure, with double fastener density in the 30 cm band along the beam.
  • OB-20 lintel flashing (item 04) across the full opening width, with OB-21 jamb flashing (item 05) on each side as supplementary trim.
  • OB-01 corner trim at the 4 corners of the gate opening + PES gasket (item 07) between the flashing and the panel.
  • Panel band below the lintel (between the beam and the floor alongside the gate) — continuation of horizontal panels. Edges cut at the gate are finished with OB-21.
  • Roller shutter box is set within the structural band above the beam (analogous to the vertical layout).
