Window — insPIRe® S sandwich panel (vertical layout)

Window installation in an industrial hall wall with insPIRe® S panels in vertical layout. Variant I with OB-01/OB-02 corner flashings, steel frame and PES + PU foam sealing.

Window — insPIRe® S sandwich panel (vertical layout)

Junction function

Window in a sandwich panel wall with vertical layout — panels arranged vertically (vertical modular axis). The window opening interrupts panel continuity in the vertical direction and requires all four frame jambs (top/bottom/left/right) together with flashings.

Unlike a window in masonry with ETICS (where PU foam + sill is sufficient), here the detail is technically complex — the trapezoidal panel geometry requires dedicated flashings:

  • OB-01 external corner — closes the external angle between the window frame and the panel.
  • OB-02 internal corner — analogous on the inside.
  • OB-37 window sill — bent flashing with drip edge, external sill.

Critical installation aspects

  • Window frame (item 03) — galvanised steel, fixed to the load-bearing structure independently of the panel. The panel is not a structural element for the window frame.
  • OB-01 and OB-02 fixed with washer-head fasteners (item 13) every 250–300 mm along the perimeter. PES gasket (item 08) between flashing and panel is MANDATORY — without it, air leakage will occur.
  • PU installation foam (item 09) fills the space between the window sash frame and the steel frame from the inside. Use low-expansion foam (expansion ≤ 30%) — high-expansion foam will deform the frame.
  • Neutral silicone (item 10) on the external contact between sash and panel — frost-resistant, UV-resistant. Do NOT use acid-cure silicone (corrodes steel).
  • OB-37 sill (item 07) — 5% slope towards the outside, 30 mm drip edge bent at 90° prevents water from running down the façade.
  • Edge zone around the opening — self-drilling fasteners at double density within a 30 cm strip around the opening (wind suction forces near openings are higher than in the full wall area).
